GEM State Association of Neonatal Nurses Meeting

Minutes

 

September 26,2005

 

Meeting was held at the Olive Garden, Boise

 

Attendees:  Christine Padilla, Sue Norris, Sue Cheeseman, Karen Egli, Cheri Beaumont, kim Moerles

 

Minutes:   from August were approved and accepted

 

Membership: Sue N. has contacted the National Asso. to receive an updated list of Idaho members along with their addresses. It was acknowledged that we need to reach out and contact our current members to encourage attendance and participation in our events.  Sue will work with Kim to send out relevant information.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Cheri needs to have Sue N. and Donna accompany her to US Bank to transfer responsibilities to the current officers. Sue will plan with Donna and Cheri soon after her return from traveling.

 

Programs:  Sue Cheeseman will work with Charlene to arrange a November program regarding neonatal seizures.

Scott Snyder was willing to present his research on the topic of sepsis and review that topic in the Spring.

 

Legislative:  Cheri shared that it is no longer necessary to have an MD supervise the practice of an NNP in Idaho.  This would depend on the individual institution’s policies governing practice of the NNP.

 

Fund Raising:  Group discussed the gift basket theme and decided to have 3 holiday baskets for raffling.  The 3 themes were:   SPA basket,  Family Fun Basket, and a Football/BSU theme.

 

Kim elicited ideas for items and will work on this. We will follow up on this at our next meeting.

Another idea to help raise money for our group was to purchase scrub tops with the St Luke’s Children’s Hospital logo on them  (wagon with teddy) The person to contact in Marketing for assistance is Marsha.

 

Communications:  Sue will work with Tony to further develop the web page where we can have minutes, upcoming events, our own e-mail, etc.

 

New Business:  none

 

Service Activity: someone needs to redecorate the Ronald McDonald donations box for snacks sometime in the Fall.

 

By-laws:  distributed and suggestions/corrections made for election of officers. Sue will revise.

The next GSANN meeting will be held on Monday, October 17th at 6 pm in Canyon 4 of the Anderson Center.
